Spalted Elm Burl Rimmed Plate

£30.00

Beautiful Plate hand turned from a piece of spalted scottish elm burl. A burl is a growth on the side of a tree where it has tried to grow a new branch but has only managed a knot of trunk and bark. These burls create stunning pieces for hand turning. The spalting comes from a mould that grew in the tree when it was alive. Do not worry, the mould is no longer alive, but it leaves unique and eye catching lines throughout the wood.

Material: Scottish Elm, sourced from Fyne Wood, finished with Mineral Oil

Size: 4cm x 23cm
