Large Elm Burl Platter
This platter started life as a large elm burl, which once the bark was removed was covered in small spiky growths. The burl features some incredible figures, swirls, and beautiful colour variations… Certainly not a gift for someone with trypophobia! The patterns uncovered are truly some of the prettiest that nature can create.
Finished with hard wax oil, this platter is technically food safe, but with the amount of holes, it is more suitable for artistic appreciation and as a talking point. Avoid getting this piece wet, while hard wax oil is water resistant, and I’ve tried to ensure all holes are coated inside, I cannot guarantee they’re 100% sealed, so moisture could still damage the wood.
